In my last column What Do You Want? Do you realize you just told me what you don't want? I let you know that I would share my answers to the unlocking questions I provided to you. These questions, helped me gain a new path forward moving away from focusing on what I did not want.

Before we get there though, my goal for this column is to provide useful value to advance and enhance your Life. By sharing the ups and downs of my experiences, my intention is to help you get where you want to be faster, avoid some pitfalls, and potentially normalize it too.

As you read this do your best to avoid labeling what you read as good/bad, positive/negative, or right/wrong.

Instead, I encourage you to use your best inner hippie voice and say with me “It just is, what it is man”.

From my point of view, there is a good deal of puppy dogs, rainbows, and unicorns, being viewed through rose-colored glasses when it comes to self-improvement. And my favorite, I mean my absolute favorite phrase that pays is- “all you have to do is…”. Even as I type the words a gag reflex fires.

This “all you have to do” curse had me go down a path where I had just stopped growing. I was so frustrated by the lack of results. I just stopped and resigned to the situation. My self-talk at the time was - this is it, I give up, I can’t do anything about it. This is f#$*ing stupid, Life should not be this hard, or difficult. Why did I waste all this time, money, and effort on this stuff?

I became full of self-doubt, cynical, sarcastic, deeply critical and filled with bitterness, blame, numbness, and envy.

Thankfully, I stayed with it because I found what was missing. What emerged were the building blocks for Peaceful Progression: Understanding My Beliefs, Self-Love, Betting on Myself, and Vulnerability.

I will be sharing more insights and tools on these foundational blocks in the upcoming columns to help you keep going.

Now, to share my answers to those 3 unlocking questions that were blocking me from beginning to get what I wanted in Life.
